AS 3952:2002 pdf – Water supply- Spring hydrant valve for waterworks purposes.
5.1 TYPE TESTS
5.1.1 Bnd design pressure test
With the hydrant set up for free end testing and a suitable simulated standpipe attachment fixed via the bayonet connection hold the dome in the open position. and apply a pressure to the valve of 4000 kPa (2.5 times the allowable operating pressure shown in Table 1 .1) for a minimum of I mm There shall be no plastic deformation or distortion of the hydrant body. Leakage at the pressure-Containing joints shall not be a cause for failure of the test.
5.1.2 Flow test
With a standpipe fitted and the dome depressed to a maximum of 25 mm. apply a constant pressure of 200kPa at the valve inlet. The flow shall be not less than 20 Lfs.
5.1.3 Resilient seat hydrostatic test
With the dome in he closed position, apply a valve seat lest pressure of 1600 kPa for a minimum of I h to the inlet side of the valve, the other side being at atmospheric pressure. No leakage shall be allowed.
5.1.4 Resilient seat infiltration test
With the dome in the closed position apply—
(a) negative pressure of 50 ±5 kPa for a minimum of I h to the inlet side of the valve. The vacuum shall not change by more than 10% of the test value: or
(b) positive hydrostatic pressure of 50 ±5 kPa for a minimum of Ih to the outlet side of the valve—no leakage shall be allowed.
5.2.1 General
One valve from each production batch shall be free end tested hydrostatically with water at ambient temperature and shall comply with the requirements of tests detailed in this Section. The tests shall he carried out after the coating has been applied.
5.2.2 Body hydrostatic test
With a simulated closed sandpipe atachment connected and the dome in the open position, apply a body Lest pressure of 2 400 kPa for I mm. No leakage shall he allowed.
5.2.3 Resilient seat hydrostatic test
With the dome in the closed position, apply a valve seat test pressure of 1600 kPa for I mm to the inlet side of the valve, the other side being at atmospheric pressure. No leakage shall be allowed.
5.2.4 Coating tests
Polymeric coatings shall be tested in accordance with ASINZS 4158. Defects found during testing may he repaired, where allowable, in accordance with AS/NZS 4158.
Where a coating detect Cannot be repaired, the valve shall be rejected.
A.2 PRODUCT CERTIFICATION
The purpose of product certification is to provide independent assurance of the claim by the
manufacturer that products comply with the Standard(s).
The certification scheme shall meet the criteria described in SAI HB 18.28/SANZ HB18.28 (ISO/IEC Guide 28) in that, as well as full type testing from independently sampled production and subsequent verification of conformance, it requires the manufacturer to maintain effective planning to control production.
