BS ISO 21042:2018 pdf download.Gasoline engines with direct fuel injection (GDI engines) — Installation of the high pressure fuel pump to the engine
1 Scope
This document specifies dimensions required for the installation and integration of the high pressure fuel pump in gasoline (GDI) engines. The location of the fuel connections and the dimensions of the pump outside shape are not defined since they vary according to the manufacturer of the pump and to the particular application.

4 Dimensions and tolerances
4.1 General
The high pressure pump on gasoline engines with direct fuel injection is usually integrated into the cylinder head of the engine and its plunger or its tappet is driven by a separate cam lobe on the engine cam shaft. This document describes the interface dimensions (flange dimensions) at the cylinder head.
4.3 Low pressure connector
Low pressure inlet tube outside diameters of 8 mm (5/16’’) or of 9,5 mm (3/8’’) shall be used. The respective connectors shall either comply with ISO 13948-2:2016, type C or with SAE J2044. If SAE J2044 is used, special care shall be taken for designing the bead. The radii at the top of the bead shall be chosen such that no sharp edge occurs. Also, the radii at the base and at the top of the bead shall be designed such that a minimum 0,25 mm wide annular surface (flat) is assured for fixing the female connector.
4.4 High pressure connector
The high pressure connector shall comply with either ISO 18418-1 or with ISO 2974.
4.5 Lubrication
Care shall be taken, that the pump plunger and the tappet are supplied with lube oil on assembly. If the pump is assembled in a top-down position, the evacuation of oil and of possible dirt shall be made sure, e.g. by help of a specific drain hole.
